Today's lesson didn't go exactly to plan considering the fact that Lucy couldn't be with us during the session. This meant that we had a different teacher and so our session style was slightly different. We did manage to stick to the lesson plan to a certain extent but most of the session was taken over by a large discussion about what interested the boys in politics and we continued to discuss things that could be changed about the world. However during this time the boys went on a lot of tangents and began joking about drugs and other inappropriate things. For what I observed, the boys weren't so keen on Jack and took advantage of the fact the Lucy wasn't there. Also the fact that Jack was taking more control of the session then Lucy had previously taken made the boys lose interest quickly. They also found it weird that Jack took his shoes and socks off to run the session which was quite funny to us and almost normal but it definitely wasn't for the boys.

At the start of the session we ran splat but it was very slow and Brit students kept winning because the Beckmead students weren't trying. This gradually faded during the name game which included introducing yourself and then saying one a lie and a truth about themselves. Everyone else had to guess which one was which. Although the boys did struggle to come up with the lie after they'd revealed their truth which made the lie obvious. We then played another name game which included have to walk towards someone in the circle whilst saying their name. Then the person who's name was said had to walk towards someone and say their name etc. This actually allowed us all to really remember each others name and laugh over the moments in which we got stuck. This made this part of the session quite successful because it was a laugh.

We also ran the warm up but it didn't go down well and we didn't manage to do the one thing Lucy had asked us to (the word journey) because we got too carried away discussing world issues that we'd change. We also didn't do the spinal roll because the vibes we were getting weren't focused enough for it not to be funny.

I found this session quite long and draining because of the lack of focus and I didn't enjoy it at all. There was a small amount of focused work in which intelligent and intellectual responses were given but most of the time we were spending trying to make things work that the boys were trying to avoid completely. I hope next week the boys respond better with Lucy in the room.
